Updated: Sep 15, 2021

This summer we have decided to share with you all our favorite places in Europe. Today, we are heading to the Greek archipelago which offers many idyllic destinations with almost 6000 islands and islets. You have certainly heard of the most popular ones: Santorini, Mykonos, Kos... In this article, we take you to discover these little-known Greek islands for an idyllic vacation far from the crowd.

Kefalonia

Located in the heart of the Ionian Sea, the charming island of Kefalonia, known to be one of the most flowery, is full of little wonders. A real paradise for nature lovers, its wild landscapes, crystal clear waters and rugged coastline will transport you on a unique journey.

The island, filled with sumptuous landscapes with the sweet scent of jasmine and wild thyme, offers many excursions to get away from the crowds and find yourself in secret paradises. Stroll through the streets of Asos, a small fishing village built on a peninsula whose summit offers a breathtaking view of the village and the turquoise waters of the sea.

To relax after a day full of discoveries, the magnificent beach of Myrtos, surrounded by limestone cliffs, offers a wild and idyllic setting.

Folegandros

Unknown to many foreign tourists and located not far from the famous island of Santorini, Folegandros knows how to charm its visitors with its picturesque villages and its natural beauty. A trip to the village Hora with its white houses with colored shutters transports us into a warm and welcoming atmosphere. On the edge of the cliff, there is a small medieval neighborhood called Kastros, whose old houses take us back in time with their old architecture.

For those who love the countryside, the small atypical village of Ano Meria offers a very different landscape from the rest of the island with its traditional farms where you can observe the agricultural and rural life of the island.

The small size of the island of Folegandros does not prevent you from enjoying a swim in the turquoise waters of one of its beautiful beaches. Those of Abeli, Livadaki or Agios Nikolaos should be kept in mind during your visit.

Serifos

Easily accessible from Athens, Serifos has kept its charm and calmness away from mass tourism. Once on the island, you can visit Hora, the main town of Serifos and without any doubt one of the most charming of the Cyclades. Dotted with many traditional churches, you will have the opportunity to wander through the small streets of the city to admire the typical architecture of the island.

In order to enjoy a moment of tranquility, we recommend one of the beaches of Serifos and especially the beach of Ganema, ideal to rest in the shade of its trees. For an even more exceptional and exclusive moment, you will have the opportunity to bathe in one of the creeks of the island: a dazzling experience far from any agitation.

Its traditional villages make Tinos stand out from the other islands of the Cyclades: elegant arches, cobbled paths, chapels and white houses make this place one of the most charming in the Greek archipelago.

For art lovers, the island has many museums among which the Cultural Foundation of Tinos: a permanent exhibition dedicated to Halepas, the island's master sculptor. To cool down the hot summer days, Tinos offers various swimming opportunities. The beach of Kolybithra is ideal for water sports enthusiasts.

For hiking enthusiasts, the island is the ideal destination for trekking along the many trails, a great way to discover all its hidden treasures and enjoy beautiful sea views. As the trails pass from village to village, you will have the opportunity to refresh yourself in a tavern and admire the traditional architecture of Amorgos.

A visit to the monastery of Hozoviotissa is a must during your stay on the island, it is indeed one of the most impressive and spectacular monastic destinations in Greece! The little extra: the magnificent view offered by its high location which is worth climbing the many steps to reach it.
